A representative of Bureau Veritas Vietnam formally presented two certificates of verification for greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2018 and ISO 14067:2018 standards to Vicostone Joint Stock Company and Phenikaa Hue Mineral Processing & Investment One Member Company Limited.

ISO 14064-1:2018 – Organizational Greenhouse-Gas Inventory

This certification serves as a tool for Vicostone to measure, report, and verify greenhouse gas emissions from all production and operational activities across its value chain, focusing on sources with significant emissions. By proactively collecting data and conducting greenhouse gas inventories since 2024, Vicostone has not only accurately assessed its emissions (recording 61,353.9 tCO₂e, accounting for 37.6% of the total emissions from Phenikaa Group’s industrial production segment, with the majority being Scope 3 emissions reflecting the characteristics of its supply chain) but also identified opportunities to optimize production, moving toward product-level carbon traceability.

With ISO 14064-1:2018, Vicostone conducts greenhouse gas emissions inventories (61,353.9 tCO₂e in 2024), aiming to optimize production and enable carbon traceability at the product level.

ISO 14067:2018 – Product Carbon-Footprint Verification (PCF)

In parallel with our organizational inventory, Vicostone completed Product carbon footprint (PCF) verification to ISO 14067:2018. The results show:

  • 0.0595 tCO₂e/m² for engineered stone slabs
  • 0.0800 tCO₂e/m² for cut-to-size products

Notably, this embedded carbon level is approximately 10–15% lower than the industry average for building materials in the European Union - one of the world’s most environmentally stringent markets. This achievement not only demonstrates Vicostone’s superior environmental performance but also affirms the company’s effective optimization of product design, raw material control, and manufacturing processes.

Vicostone’s Comprehensive and Methodical Net Zero 2050 Strategy

Vicostone aims to achieve Net Zero by 2050 through a comprehensive and well-structured strategy, focusing on green transformation from core technologies and deeply integrating sustainability into all aspects of its production and business operations.

Vicostone’s Net Zero journey is not a “race for certifications” but a consistent course of action grounded in ESG principles - a core mindset deeply embedded across all aspects of the company’s operations.

Three Core Strategic Action Layers:

  1. Transparent Measurement: Conducting greenhouse gas inventories in accordance with ISO 14064-1, product-level carbon footprint tracking under ISO 14067, and aiming for comprehensive carbon neutrality following ISO 14068.

  1. Substantive Emissions Reduction: Implementing energy management under ISO 50001, optimizing production processes, increasing the localization of raw materials, promoting recycling, and expanding the use of renewable energy.

  1. Carbon Neutralization: Executed through measures such as utilizing international carbon credits, developing carbon-absorbing forests, and commercializing low-carbon product lines.

The four pillars supporting this strategy are: Green Manufacturing, Environmentally Friendly Logistics, Sustainable Consumption, and Carbon-Absorbing Forest Development.

The roadmap is divided into phases with specific goals:

Supporting these are four ESG pillars - Green Manufacturing, Eco-Friendly Logistics, Sustainable Consumption, and Carbon-Sink Forestry, organized into three phases:

  • 2025–2030 (Foundation): Finalize ESG systems, inventory, and footprint; aim for Scope 1 & 2 neutrality, 15 percent renewable energy usage, and 50 percent recycled inputs by 2027.

  • 2030–2040 (Integration): Build eco-plants, deploy AI-driven carbon monitoring, raise recycled-material usage to 40 percent, and secure international low-emission product labels such as EPD and CarbonNeutral.

  • 2040–2050 (Neutralization & Leadership): Achieve full carbon neutrality for Scope 3 emissions, commercialize carbon-negative products, expand carbon-absorbing forests, and join the Vietnam and ASEAN Net Zero Alliances. Vicostone will emerge as a model green manufacturing enterprise in Southeast Asia, making a meaningful contribution to the global fight against climate change.

In parallel, Vicostone is pioneering green product design based on key principles: using recycled and renewable materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the product lifecycle, enhancing durability, and promoting post-consumer recyclability -  all to help create green, sustainable living spaces around the world.

Vicostone’s strategic goal for the 2025–2030 period is to accelerate the adoption of solar energy in production, increase the number of products made with recycled materials, and pursue concrete targets toward Net Zero 2050 and sustainable development in alignment with ESG principles.

Vicostone Moves Toward Full Carbon Neutrality Aligned with ISO 14068 International Standard

In pursuit of its Net Zero 2050 goal through a structured and science-based approach, Vicostone is implementing a carbon neutrality strategy aligned with the latest international standard - ISO 14068.

The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2027, based on emission data that has been inventoried, tracked, and independently verified under ISO 14064 and ISO 14067 certifications. Between 2024 and 2026, Vicostone will complete data verification, establish science-based emission reduction targets (SBTi), and identify appropriate carbon offset solutions, including international carbon credits and nature-based absorption projects in Vietnam.

Implementing ISO 14068 is not merely about obtaining another certification, but a strategic move for Vicostone to deeply integrate carbon neutrality into its entire ESG management system and long-term operational model. Looking further ahead, starting from 2040, Vicostone aims to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire Scope 3 emissions and take the lead in developing low-carbon product lines. Through these efforts, Vicostone strives to become one of Vietnam’s leading manufacturing enterprises to meet comprehensive carbon neutrality standards, reinforcing its leadership position in the era of global green transition.

ESG Culture: The Foundation for Vicostone’s Green Vision Toward Sustainable Development

To ensure the ESG culture operates smoothly and effectively, Vicostone adopts a rigorous three-tier governance model, starting from the ESG Council at the Phenikaa Group level to the dedicated implementation team at Vicostone, and down to the operational units at each facility. In parallel, the company is also a pioneer in advancing digital transformation in ESG management, demonstrated by its real-time energy monitoring system and a unified ESG emissions data platform across the organization. This seamless integration of a sustainability mindset, modern technology, and practical grassroots actions is shaping a “green” Vicostone from the inside out - steadily advancing on the Net Zero 2050 journey and sustainable development path, contributing to Phenikaa Group’s overarching goal of comprehensive ESG implementation.
